Dumerso is sourced from 246 family farmers in the Yirgacheffe region in Ethiopia. Small farms in this region typically grow other crops alongside their coffee: bananas, corn, beans, and tropical fruits like mango and avocado. All of these crops interspersed with the coffee add to the diversity of soil nutrients and in the cup yield a more dynamic flavor.
The relatively small Dumerso cooperative joined the larger Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) in 2002, adding support and power to fuel its sustainable farming techniques. YCFCU has 45,000 total members and is a strong organization. We are proud to support their mission of promoting and supporting the continuous development of the sustainable coffee supply of members to the market in order to maximize financial returns to members’ cooperatives and in turn promoting the living standards of farmers. We always search for and source coffee that achieves development goals, and returns a good profit for farmers working so hard. This cup pays off with notes of dried cherry, earth, and cream.
