Through our partnership with Campesino Specialty Coffee, we are pleased to present this year’s newest crop from Don Victor. He, his wife, daughter, and sweet pup Boogey run the day-to-day activities on the farm.
Typically, coffee plants thrive in temperatures between 60°F and 75°F. Here, overnight temperatures can be much lower and daytime temperatures much higher. Oftentimes, these temperature swings can span 50 – 60 degrees in a day, so only the most robust, sturdy crops can survive. Don Victor selected the hardiest varieties to cultivate: Caturra, Dos Mil, and Castillo. These hearty plants with virile rootstocks are giving us some beautiful notes in this washed coffee: papaya Hi-Chew, creamy milk chocolate, and an almond pith finish.
