Through our partnership with Campesino Specialty Coffee, we are pleased to present this year’s micro-lot from Don Victor. He, his wife, daughter, and sweet pup Boogey run the day-to-day activities on the farm.
Typically, coffee plants thrive in temperatures between 60°F and 75°F. Here, overnight temperatures can be much lower and daytime temperatures much higher. Oftentimes, these temperature swings can span 50 – 60 degrees in a day, so only the most robust, sturdy crops can survive. Don Victor’s micro lot of Red Bourbon is a delicate coffee, as a plant, as a fruit, and in the cup. Bourbon trees are known for producing denser beans – meaning the beans (seeds) receive much more nutrients than other varieties. And that comes through in the cup with soft cherry, apple and vanilla notes. It may be a delicate micro-lot, but it can stand up to however you brew it, even espresso. We prefer drip, but this as an espresso, properly dialed in, is a beautiful treat!
