Meet Doña Dolly and Finca La Fortuna 🌟
Nestled in the picturesque neighborhood of Vallecitos, in the charming town of Jericó, Antioquia, lies Finca La Fortuna (meaning “The Fortune”). Owned and lovingly run by Doña Dolly, this farm is a testament to resilience, tradition, and dedication.
A Lifetime on the Land
For over 40 years, Doña Dolly has called La Fortuna her home, raising her five children amid the rolling hills and vibrant coffee trees. Though her children have taken paths away from farming, Doña Dolly continues to uphold the rich tradition of coffee cultivation, ensuring each bean tells a story of care and craftsmanship.
A One-Woman Powerhouse
Doña Dolly oversees nearly all aspects of the farm’s coffee processing herself. She is supported by two incredible women workers who assist with hand-picking the coffee cherries, ensuring only the best quality harvest.
More than Just Coffee
Finca La Fortuna is home to over 7,000 coffee trees, thriving alongside citrus trees and a small herd of cows, reflecting the biodiversity and sustainability of the farm. Each cup of coffee from La Fortuna carries the essence of this vibrant ecosystem and the tireless work of Doña Dolly.
A Legacy of Tradition
Doña Dolly’s commitment to her farm and her craft is an inspiration. Her story is a beautiful reminder of the dedication it takes to produce coffee that not only sustains a livelihood but also brings joy to coffee lovers worldwide.
