Blending coffees at source is an art and an increasingly difficult one when you consider tree varieties such as SL28, SL34, and Ruiru. Scotts Laboratories (SL) developed the first two lots in the 1950s in Kenya. Ruiru was a special project for disease resistance in the 1970’s. Inadvertently, the SL coffees produced vibrant acidity with even effervescent qualities. Ruiru variety is known for its modulation and balanced cup. Generations later, these lots give us beautiful acid notes (winey, cranberry), with balanced notes of chocolate and “Oreo” wafer. Enjoy these winey, cranberry, and chocolate notes, with a balanced chocolate mouthfeel.
